Greetings - What we have here is the result of many years of collecting the music of my favorite band - Pink Floyd, which incidentally, happens to be the coolest band that ever happened. (The Beatles were the best, but Pink Floyd was the coolest. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.)

IMAGE: My Mind Has Become One Long Pink Floyd Song

For the most part, my listing here is representative of the 400+ Pink Floyd CDs I have secretly locked away in a hermetically-sealed, neutrino-resistant vault 16 miles underground (on the remote, but festive, planet Flupiter), but some discrepancies do exist. (Jeez, was that a run on sentence or what?)

I probably have around 50 or so shows that are not accounted for here as well as multiple versions of shows that have not been catalogued yet. C'est la vie. As you might imagine, it gets harder and harder to maintain this list - my collection keeps expanding while my spare time somehow keeps diminishing. And to be honest, collecting boots just doesn't have the same zing for me as it used to carry when I was younger, but my collection is still very dear to me. Afterall, it's the soundtrack of my youth or as this button on the right so eloquently states...

Recording Quality Legend...

This used to be a kind of nebulous area for me. For a long time I had difficulty grading recording quality and I think it's because I listened to so many Floyd RoIOs over the years that I sort of built up a kind of tolerance to "noise." What this means is that, something that probably sounds like hell to most, probably doesn't sound that bad to me. What can I say? I love Pink Floyd.

As Ranger Danalog said to me once, "You tend to fill in the blanks or filter things out when you listen to these recordings after a while. You find yourself asking absurd questions to defend your warped sensibilities. Things like: What do you mean there's no bass in this recording? I can hear it just fine. What? The keyboards are mixed too loud? No way, they sound perfect to me."

But alas, I have found a kind of "grading standard" thanks to Herwig's Floyd RoIO site (that's the site I mentioned above.) Listed below are links to 9 second snippets of shows demonstrating each rating quality. I've merged Herwig's grading system with my own. I hope you find this useful. It is my attempt to give you an idea as to how these recordings sound. I've tried to keep the grading scale as simple as possible and tend to grade on the conservative side. I will say this, however, all of these recordings have a kind of   M  A  G  I C  to them - each one is unique, special, and offers a glimpse of a time since past.

Ratings 157 KB Sound Clips Descriptions
A+, Sup Sup Sample A Superb sounding recording - usually a soundboard, radio broadcast, or a digital audience recording.
A, Ex Ex Sample An excellent sounding recording - usually the best sounding analog audience recording.
B, VG VG Sample Good sound, listenable, not perfect, but not bad either - always an audience analog recording.
C, VG- VG- Sample Approaching pretty damn rough, but cool if you're into having as many recordings as you can get.
D, G+ G+ Sample Warning: sounds like dog shit, only for serious collectors or if you like listening to noise.

Am I Trading RoIOs These Days?

Currently, I am not. Maybe I'll get back into it someday, but I'm basically retired from trading. If you're interested in getting Floyd boots, I suggest you join the Yahoo group FloydArtifacts. They'll help you get going even if you're new to the hobby. Good luck and keep the Pink Floyd music shining.

*** Ranger Danalog, the remastering guru for Man of Leisure Music, has cleaned up this recording considerably. Before his remastering job, I would have rated this show "somewhere in the neighborhood of a low C." But due to his skill and remastering experience of 15+ years, this show is now a fine collector's piece.
